Peachtree Corners became a city in 2012 and is now the largest city in Gwinnett County. It began as a planned community in the late 1960s and is known today for Technology Park, the Curiosity Lab smart-city test bed, Town Center and the Town Green, and Simpsonwood and Jones Bridge parks along the Chattahoochee, which forms seven miles of the city’s border.
Pool Permits in Peachtree Corners
Pools are permitted by the City of Peachtree Corners Community Development Department on Technology Parkway. A building permit is required before any land disturbance, along with a development permit reviewed by the city’s land disturbance inspector. The city’s pool requirements include:
- Rear-yard placement, at least five feet from side and rear property lines and ten feet from any septic system.
- No encroachment into buffers, with stream buffers, floodplain and Chattahoochee River Corridor clearing shown on the site plan.
- A barrier at least four feet tall with self-closing, self-latching gates, or door alarms or a power safety cover where the house is part of the barrier.
- Gwinnett Environmental Health approval of the pool location on septic lots.
Tree Permits Matter Here
Peachtree Corners requires a permit to remove any tree, of any size, and limits how many trees can be removed from a property each year. That makes pool placement one of the first design decisions. We map the trees, place the pool, equipment and construction access to keep removals to a minimum, and show it in a 3D design rendering before anything is submitted.
