Dunwoody sits at the northern tip of DeKalb County, bordering Sandy Springs and Gwinnett. The city incorporated in 2008, and it is known for Perimeter Center, Dunwoody Village with its Williamsburg-style architecture and the historic Dunwoody Farmhouse, the Georgetown area and the 103-acre Brook Run Park. Many Dunwoody homes are in established neighborhoods with mature landscaping, where a new pool has to fit an existing yard carefully.
Pool Permits in Dunwoody
Pools are permitted by the City of Dunwoody Community Development Department, Permits and Inspections, at City Hall on Ashford Dunwoody Road. A permit is required for any new or replaced swimming pool, and the site plan must follow the city’s plan requirements for residential land disturbance projects. We prepare the site plan and construction drawings, submit the application and coordinate every inspection.
Designing for an Established Yard
In an established neighborhood, the questions are usually access, existing trees and how the pool will sit relative to the house and the neighbors. We walk the property, look at grade, drainage and how equipment will reach the backyard, then build a 3D design rendering so you can see the pool, spa and finishes in place before construction begins. Gunite is the most flexible choice for these lots, because it can be shaped to fit a narrow or irregular yard.
